This huge Monument of steel and concrete is build in the middle of nature (apart from a small village nearby). The area is huge and offers a multitude of possibilities. Although you can not go anywhere are there many beautiful places accessible. Public business or spectators are hardly to be expected, many people certainly not get lost there. In the evironment you'll is a small and lovely lake, which is very idyllic and also makes a wonderful backdrop.
The monument is call the Schleuse Wüsteneutzsch, a few miles north of Bad Duerrenberg. There were times they plan to build a canal through the country, but the plans were never realized. Thus, the lock is now in the middle of nowhere, far away from any water ...
