Quarry and Mountain Church Beucha

Region: Brandis, Germany
A quite large and varied rich area offers the Kirchberg in Beucha a district of Brandis, with it's quarry and the towering mountain church. Around the lake there are a whole series of charming places that are suitable as a location for nude photography but also for other photographs. Next to the church there is a lake, former fortifications, a small idyllic cemetery, walls, wood and much more.
The Kirchberg in Beucha is located 147 m above sea level. Since the cessation of work in 1958 no more water was pumped out. The lake is a groundwater lake with depth 38 m , the quarry towers above the water surface to 20 m.
And a little history: During the 13th Century the fortress church was built on Slavic ramparts from around the year 1000. In 1429 it was destroyed by the Hussites and later rebuilt . Bigger than before. In 1813, the Kirchberg and with it the mountain church was an important vantage point in the Battle of Leipzig . In the years 1847/48 , the nave was extended and raised to make room for a new, larger organ. After the church was damaged by the bombs in 1945 , it was rebuilt in 1949. Neglected in the communist era, it was in 1989 closed due to disrepair . After the fall of the wall the mountain church was restored and inaugurated after its successful completion in 1997. From time to time the church is in operation and the cemetery shows some fresh graves. It is therefore consideration imperative. However, we have already made some shots there and there were never problems. We hope it remains this way.
