Convent Nimbschen

Region: Grimma, Germany
A location with history! Martin Luther's later wife Katharina von Bora stayed once between those sacred walls. The monastery Nimbschen (Marienthron) is a former Cistercian monastery, located immediately to the south in Saxony at the trough of Grimma. It was probably in use from 1243 - 1536/42. Today from the former monastery are only some outer walls and a gable. In the environment there is also a (barred) wells. The surrounding area is not less attractive. In a few minutes we went to the river Mulde or can take pictures even in the woods. The site is freely accessible, but is to be expected especially at weekends with tourists. Undisturbed shots should therefore be well planned.
In the immediate vicinity of the monastery ruins are located near a restaurant and a hotel complex. A small wedding chapel was built in the time of our last visit there.
